The Dr. Gabriel Serrano Dominican Republic Foundation is a solidarity initiative of Dr. Gabriel Serrano that was created to help the people most in need, attend to the education of children and young people and seek to improve the living conditions and health of families with fewer resources. This institution responds to the deep social commitment that drives Dr. Serrano’s actions, because «I feel that I have the moral duty to help those who have not had the same luck or the same opportunities as me in life,» he says, excited after seeing it become one of your most cherished dreams come true.
Another of the initiatives launched by Dr. Gabriel Serrano and the Foundation is the multidisciplinary Medical Center that has just opened in Bayahíbe, a clinic that will not only serve foreign tourists with high purchasing power and who can pay for consultations from specialists or the treatments offered, but will also provide free care one day a week to people without resources in the area. That is, it will offer the same medical care and access to the same procedures both for those who have enough resources to pay for them and for those who do not earn enough to be able to do so. In this sense, Dr. Serrano assures that “there are thousands of people in some areas of the country who do not even have the means to go to a hospital, much less to pay for a specialist consultation. With this new clinic we will go look for them with our ambulance, we will treat them as they deserve and we will fulfill the moral duty that we have imposed on ourselves.“ The dream come true of offering universal and free medical care for those who have the least.
